ART OF WORE

Elizabeth & James Spring 2011

Dear Santa,

I have been very well-behaved this year. I don't cut people off on the road nearly as often as I used to, and I only curse when it's linguistically appropriate. The few fibs I tell are little white lies like "Yes, I like your haircut," and "Of course I find your vacation photos interesting." In fact, the other day my charmingly nerdy boyfriend asked me to play Dungeons and Dragons, and I didn't even beat him up and steal his lunch money — something that might've happened in a former life.

It is for these reasons, and many others, that I deserve a magical, clothing-filled Christmas this year. A Christmas full of long, black lace skirts, delicate blouses, drop-waist tunics and perfectly cuffed trousers; silky taupe jumpsuits and high-waisted pants; chunky sweaters and blazers with narrow lapels and bunched up sleeves.

Mr. Claus, I'm talking about a Christmas filled with Elizabeth & James' Spring 2011 collection. I don't know how those tiny Olsen twins did it, but they've somehow managed to design a line that completely encapsulates everything I want in my spring wadrobe. There's almost nothing I wouldn't wear in this collection. It's breezy, chic, effortless, hip, comfortable, subtle, elegant and sleek. The girl who wears these clothes likes reading books, going to rock shows, drinking cocktails and flirting with everyone. In other words — me.

Take a look at these clothes, Santa, and see if you can find it in your heart to put some of them on your "deserving" list. My closet would really appreciate it.

Love,
Mary
