Turtlenecks have been popping up all over the fashion world lately — on street fashion blogs and in fall collections by designers like Givenchy, Celine and Bottega Veneta. The chicest of the bunch seem to prefer a "hair tucked in" look, as if they just threw a turtleneck on and couldn't be bothered to pull out their hair. It's a little like the "jacket draped over the shoulders" look that was everywhere last year. Just a different way of styling a conventional garment.
I'm on board with turtlenecks. They're classic, comfortable and add color to an often uncovered area. They're also great palettes for a necklace and have the added bonus of keeping you warm. And, last but not least, they remind me of my mother, who has been faithfully wearing turtlenecks, trendy or not, every winter since before I was born.
