I'm Mary. It's nice to meet you. This blog is a tiny space on the internet to document my musings on style, travel and culture. Enjoy!

The little photo shoot that could

This is one of my favorite bridal editorials I've ever done. And it was an accident! Honestly, this was supposed to be a completely different story. We were planning on shooting on a farm in Wisconsin, but the morning of the shoot, the forecast called for rain all day. And we didn't have a back-up plan.

So, there we were, a ten-person crew, sitting around our photographer William's studio wondering what the hell to do. William's studio wasn't set up, so we tried calling other studios and warehouses around the city but every place was full. Then we debated rescheduling altogether, but we already had all the wardrobe and the model booked — not to mention no clue what the concept behind a new story might be.

Finally, we decided to throw caution to the wind and just shoot in William's studio. He and his assistant figured out the lighting, and we decided to let the wardrobe, hair and makeup take center stage, rather than sharing it with the farm background we'd envisioned.

Et voila! A chic, high-fashion bridal editorial. Not bad for throwing it together at the last second, huh? I owe a huge debt of gratitude to my talented team for coming up with this story on the fly: photographer William Clark, stylist Hollie Mae of HMStyling, hair/makeup artist Andrea Holton, model Kelly S. from Ignite and flowers from Munster Rose.
