Meet the latest loves of my life. I picked up this vintage Express black leather pencil skirt at a thrift store in Bellingham for $6.99 last weekend. Pretty stellar deal. The printed top is from my Boise thrifting adventure a couple months ago, and the triangle bolo tie hails from a mom & pop thrift shop in Kent. The owner was just about to close up when I spotted it on a jewelry stand near the register. Destiny.
I've been looking for the perfect black leather skirt for, oh, three years now. They never fit quite right. This one's gonna get a lot of use. It looks good with tops tucked in and untucked, and it's not too hot for summer (at least not Seattle's summer). My skirt is vintage, but you can find new versions by H&M (faux leather, $17.80), ModCloth ($49.99), Marc by Marc Jacobs ($298), and Alexander Wang ($480).
As for the bolo tie, well, I know that's an acquired taste, and I've acquired it like a madman. My coworkers can attest: I wear it all the damn time. I like that it's a thick black necklace — sometimes gold and silver necklaces get lost in the print on my tops, but not this bad-boy. Here are a few bolo ties from Urban Outfitters ($8.00), ModCloth ($14.99), and SCRanch Western Mecantile ($17.98). You can also find a ton of cool bolo ties on Esty.com for pretty cheap.
