Hey.

I'm Mary. It's nice to meet you. This blog is a tiny space on the internet to document my musings on style, travel and culture. Enjoy!

The Best Soap for Dry & Sensitive Skin

The Best Soap for Dry & Sensitive Skin

I've had troublesome skin my whole life. When left to its own devices, my complexion is prone to cystic acne and oiliness. A couple years ago, I found a great dermatologist who put me on medication (spironolactone) that completely eradicated my acne — yay! The only downside is that now my skin is super dry and sensitive to harsh ingredients.

I've tried tons of different daily cleansers, but they often make my skin even drier than it already is, clog my pores or give me hives. After consulting with my doctor, she recommended Pure Olive Oil Soap by Kiss My Face. The result has been amazing, and I'm convinced it's for one very important reason.

This stuff has three ingredients, you guys. THREE: 1) sodium olivate (saponified olive oil), 2) water, and 3) sodium chloride (salt).

No crazy 12-letter chemicals, parabens, fragrances and methylprobahlahlah-whatever-the-hell happening here. It makes you wonder why so many soaps are packed with chemicals when you can make perfectly delightful soap without any of that garbage. I DON'T GET IT.

Anyway, this stuff cleans like a charm and doesn't give me any weird reactions. That's all I really ask for. Apparently some people out there like it so much, they use it to make laundry detergent and felt for crafting. I'll stick to just face-washing, thank you.
